    Day 1

    day 1 ARRIVE LIMA

    Arrival in Lima, meet and greet at the airport, and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at your hotel in Lima. 

    Day 2

    day 2 LIMA SIGHTSEEING

    After breakfast at the hotel, head for a tour through Lima's colonial streets and plazas. Starting at the Love Park in Miraflores, with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean, head to witness the clay adobe pyramids in Huaca Pucllana - the ceremonial centre of pre-Incan Lima culture. Then reach the Main Square to see the Government Palace and the Town Hall. Final leg of the tour includes visit to the Cathedral and the Santo Domingo Convent, along which corridors saints San Martin de Porras and Santa Rosa de Lima. Overnight at your hotel in Lima.

    Day 3

    day 3 LIMA FLY TO CUSCO & TRANSFER TO SACRED VALLEY

    After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco. On arrival in Cusco, meet and greet and transfer to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Enroute, visit Awanacancha, a tourist complex where you can see and feed Andean llamas and Alpacas. Here you can also see locals weaving and dyeing traditional textiles. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at your hotel in Sacred Valley.

    Day 4

    day 4 SACRED VALLEY - MACHU PICCHU - SACRED VALLEY

    After breakfast at hotel, transfer to Ollantaytambo station to board the train to Aguas Calientes station to get close to the Machu Picchu. Not only is Machu Picchu a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but also counted as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. At Aguas Calientes station you will be guided to board the coach to go up the winding road to Machu Picchu that affords a magnificent view of the Urubamba River and its canyon. The lost city of the notable Incas, Machu Picchu, is an astonishing sight with its terraces, shrines, steps, and other built-up areas. Imagine how the Incans would have built and worshipped at this remote place centuries ago - astonishing! After a guided tour, lunch in one of the restaurants close to the area. After capturing the beauty of this ancient wonder, return to Aguas Calientes train station to catch the evening train back to the Sacred Valley. On arrival, transfer to hotel. Overnight stay at hotel in Sacred Valley.

    Note: The baggage policy onboard the Expedition train is 1 bag or backpack per person weighing a maximum of max. 5kg / 11lb. (Backpacks or bags taken into Machu Picchu must not exceed 40x35x20cms or have a capacity larger than 20Lts and must not contain single-use plastic bottles or bags. Backpacks or bags that exceed the indicated measurements can be left in storage for approx. £2 per bag.)

    day 5 SACRED VALLEY - CUSCO

    After breakfast, transfer to the station to catch train back to Cusco. The journey gives you another chance to enjoy the scenic route along the Urubamba river. Upon arrival in Cusco, transfer to you hotel. Rest of the evening at leisure. Overnight at your hotel in Cusco. 

    Day 6

    day 6 CUSCO SIGHTSEEING

    After breakfast, embark on a tour to visit the San Cristobal Plaza to enjoy panoramic view of the city. Then Imagine how dazzling the gilded walls at the Qorikancha temple (Gold Enclosure in Quechua) would have been, before the Spanish conquest. Then it is the turn to visit the Santo Domingo Church located close by. Then take a walk from the artisans neighbourhood of San Blas to the Hatun Rumiyoc street. Overnight at your hotel in Cusco. 

    Day 7

    day 7 FLY FROM CUSCO TO IQUITOS

    After breakfast at hotel, time to shift from the mighty Andean mountain range to the dense jungles of the Amazon rainforest. Transfer to the airport to catch your flight to the port city of Iquitos, that serves as the gateway to the Amazon region. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. Rest of the evening at leisure. Overnight at your hotel in Iquitos.

    Day 8

    day 8 IQUITOS - AMAZON, EXPLORING THE RAIN FOREST

    Breakfast at the hotel. Then head to Irapay Lodge that will serve as your base to explore the Amazon over the next four days. Enroute, stop at the Amazon Rescue Centre to learn how endangered species such as turtles, sloths and manatees are rescued and rehabilitated. Now comes the time to head into the heart of the Amazon rainforest. Head to Bellavista-Nanay Port to board a boat that will take you along the Amazon River towards Amak Village. Upon arrival, explore the community areas, and get settled in your eco-friendly cabin. Later in the day, set off on your first excursion along the so-called "black river" on a river cruise on the Yanayaco. This is the time for spotting wildlife and even indulge in activities like angling with homemade fishing rods. After your first jungle experience, head back to the village for a sumptuous local dinner. Overnight stay in the Amazon. 

    Day 9

    day 9 EXPLORING THE AMAZON RAIN FOREST

    Today you head-off early - before the first sunlight hits the jungle floor. The guided boat ride offers opportunity to see rare pink dolphins and birdlife, before halting for breakfast. Thereafter board another boat to Monkey Island, a beautiful green expanse inhabited by various primate species such as Andean saddle-back tamarins, bald uakaris and sloths. Learn about the different species and even see them at the onsite rescue centre. In the afternoon, feast on a local Amazonian lunch. Then it is time for a nature walk to explore the Amazon forest to appreciate the diverse ecosystem. Among other wildlife, discover dens of owl monkeys and the remarkable leafcutter ant colonies. After the walk, head back to the village for an open-air dinner. Overnight stay in the Amazon.

    Day 10

    day 10 EXPLORING THE AMAZON RAIN FOREST

    Another day in the forest, starting with breakfast and heading-off for a boat ride. Keep a look-out for more indigenous wildlife, while enjoying the splendid natural beauty of the forest. Return to the village for lunch and some rest. Thereafter see a 100 year old, gigantic ceiba tree at Rio Negro. With a spread-out canopy 40-metres above ground, the tree beckons adventure-minded to have a go at climbing it. Around dusk, set upon a nature walk wherein the guide uses UV-lanterns to search for some of the more elusive and exotic critters including tarantulas and scorpions. Head back to the village and recount your memories of the Amazonian adventure while enjoying dinner, before settling into your cabin for your last night in the Amazon rainforest.

    Day 11

    day 11 AMAZON - IQUITOS FLY TO LIMA

    Breakfast at the lodge and end your Amazonia adventure with a visit to an indigenous Yagua community. Get to know the tribe and learn about their lifestyle from their traditions and hand-made items. The locals will share their fishing and farming techniques to give an interesting insight into life in the Amazon. Return to the lodge for lunch. Later transfer to the airport to catch flight back to Lima. On arrival transfer to your hotel. Overnight stay in Lima.

    day 12 DEPART LIMA FOR YOUR FLIGHT

    Breakfast at the hotel. Later transfer to the airport to catch your return flight.
